Our Trip To China ~
Justin is a part of a case study treatment program of infant blindness due to Optic Nerve Hypoplasia (ONH). For a condition that is considered "untreatable" in the US, there is hope for an improved quality of life for ONH babies, if we seek treatment outside of our country. Umbilical cord stem cell therapy helped the growth/repair of his underdeveloped optic nerves. The treatments were administered via IV and spinal injection. After his first treatment, there was significant improvement in Justin's vision. He was able to track objects and see things put close to his face. For the first time, he saw his parent's faces! Now, 4 months after the first treatment, there is such a drastic change in Justin. He crawls all around the house very easily, not bumping into walls or toys. He sees something across the room and crawls right to it. The improvement in his vision is remarkable and we feel extremely blessed to have this miracle.
Justin is the 9th ONH child to be treated in this case study program. We were in Hang Zhou, China for 26 days for the treatment. The care from the nurses and doctors was equivalent to the care we receive back at home. Our experience was nothing but positive. Improving Justin's quality of life is our main priority. This treatment has already given him more results than we ever expected! His visual classification has been changed from blind to visually impaired!!!
